Yesterday there was someone on the subway platform handing out bumper stickers that said "make jobs not war." While I agree with the sentiment, I found it somehow disturbing to realize that in my lifetime a significant piece of the Zeitgeist has fairly solidly shifted from love to work.

I was born in 1967. Things were very different then.
