It has to do with the schedule of the garbage picking up facility. For example, in my town, the facility was open both on Dec 26 and on January 2, so they picked up garbage on time both this week and last. But many people assumed it would be a day late and therefore screwed up, both last week and this week. I didn't screw up because I found the information on the government website. They might have an explanation posted if your town has one.
Sorry about that. My hair's back to normal, but my coast may never be the same.
I might have neglected to let the world know I'm really here, out of an overblown sense of denial about actually staying. But it looks like we'll be here a while.
I wish ours had been too. It is usually picked up on Tuesday, but last week it was picked up on Wednesday. My first hint that this week it was not going to be delayed was when I heard the garbage truck. I think only one of our neighbors had actually put anything out on our street, so I suspect most people were making the same assumption that I was.
Ours was picked up on its usual day both weeks. I'd have missed it if I hadn't seen lifecollage's entry about nearly missing it. (We both live in Boston proper.)
