... something I never would have imagined I would actually be REQUESTING.
I seem to be needing to pump milk while Chip is not here and the obstreperous toddler is awake.
The two truly, um, entertaining to babies, toys lent to me worked beautifully the first day, but Short Attention Span Boy is already exhibiting waning interest today. (I do, after all, spend up to an hour pumping milk at a time, a quarter of which is admittedly kind of pushing it for the typical fourteen month old ability to entertain oneself, no matter how engrossing the toys.)
So I would love to borrow things of this nature, if folks have some they would like out of their house. I will probably rotate and swap out a lot, so short term staggered loans work just as well as long term loans.
Also, I would be delighted with suggestions on where (either nearby or on-line) to purchase more of these items relatively inexpensively. (Too bad I wasn't looking for them when the Toys R Us in Cambridge was going out of business...)

Date: 2006-03-17 09:27 pm (UTC)I also have an ark/piano thingie that's more of a sit there and push the buttons type of thing. It probably needs new batteries. And a walker with lots of buttons to push. Also probably needs batteries. I tend not to be too proactive about replacing the batteries on the really annoying musical toys. ;)
They do have a selection of toys at the Babies-R-Us in Everett, not far from where you and I live. It's not as wide a selection as a Toys-R-Us would have, but you might find something. And then there's a Target practically right next door.

Date: 2006-03-17 10:21 pm (UTC)One of the primary criteria is that it NOT need me to help him with it (so not get stuck or be too difficult for him to do on its own. This is why things with lots of lights and buttons work so well.)
I basically may want sitting type toys, although moving around toys that don't fall over and get stuck that way would work too. (I suspect he will immediately get them stuck around the legs of the dining room chairs, however, so probably best to start with the sitting toys until his co-ordination improves.)
The ark/piano thing sounds great. Thank you! :-) Are you coming to the clothing swap on Sunday? If so, that might work as a way for me to get it from you. Otherwise, when is a convenient time for you for me to pick it up?
