This would be pump number three.

Why yes, moving parts wear out despite any advertising hype to the contrary.

To my serious lack of astonishment, each version is more flimsy than the previous one, and, as far as I can tell, the tubes are not backward compatible despite pump two and pump three theoretically being the same model.

Joy.

If you're in a pinch you can borrow my medela double "pump in style". It's over 10 years old, but still works.

Thanks. :-)

I think I am ok for now, but I totally appreciate the offer.

Actually, we may need to take you up on that; the new one is being problematic too. :-(

Did I already lend y'all one of mine?

Nope. It wasn't us. :-)

This could be a serious business opportunity for someone. You can't be the only one pissed off about these flimsy things!

I'm surprised they're not made so that they're repairable. You should be able to replace the motor and whatever seals are in the thing.

But then the wouldn't sell so many.

(The company claims they don't wear out, but everyone who has used one a lot knows they do.)

Somebody who sold a pump with user-replaceable parts at 150% of the cost of the others would clean up. "Look, any pump will break before you're done using it. Wouldn't you rather be using one that's *repairable* for 1/5 the cost of a new pump?"
