snow day! :-)

So Chip and I hauled ourselves out of bed at some obscence hour before dawn, all prepared to tunnel out the car and skid our way over to my work. But, just in case, I checked the snowline at the illustrious institute of higher education at which my school is housed, and, to our great surprise, the recording announced that everything was closed. Hmm... no declared MA wide state of emergency, but the Cambridge city website says that there is a declared city wide snow emergency. We're probably open, I assume, but I suppose it won't hurt to call the teacher in charge while our director is out of town.

(She, oh fortunate one, is in Florida... eeep, I can't believe I actually said someone was *fortunate* to be in Florida... I've always rather intensely disliked Florida the few times I was there. The cold has clearly rotted my brain.)

So the teacher's groggy husband answered the phone and went to fetch her. "We're closed." "Are you sure? The regional manager told us yesterday that we wouldn't be unless it a state wide emergency was declared." "Oh. [This teacher had not been there yesterday.] I guess I better call her. I'll call you back if you need to go in."

Much time elapses. No phone call. I call the voicemail at my school to double check. The recording says we are closed.

snow day! :-)

Time for a nap.

Yeah, glad you didn’t have to deal at 5am. It sounds like you had tons of snow to make go away. Our office is apparently closed today too, not that it matters, because we are considered essential federal employees. One advantage to working my hours, I don’t have to dig out in the dark. Hope you are enjoying your snow day!
