But, on a happier note, we found a wonderful front back baby carrier at REI that I think will work well into the winter, and maybe even longer.

(We looked at their backpack carriers too, while we were there, but they all seemed way too large for him, and, even with everything tightened down, he wobbled too much in the one we actually put on. Next year a backpack will be excellent, but maybe not yet. Or maybe they only had ones designed for toddlers.)

The new baby carrier is great. Chip took Benjamin for a walk in it after I had gone to bed, and they are off on another adventure this morning. (The old one was hurting Chip's back, but in this one he could go miles. It is padded well, and large enough, so Benjamin is very comfortable in it.)

I guess it makes sense that if you want a piece of equipment to carry a child, a backpack designer will probably make something considerably better than a baby products designer.
