I strongly suspect my new glasses should *not* be giving me a headache and making the edges of everything look blurry. (The blurred effect is particularly pronounced when I look through the slats on picket type fences, and narrow parallel lines look really wrong.)

I had that problem recently when I got new glasses. They put in for the ultralightweight plastic (I forget the name) and it was BAD. They got some regular plastic lenses in after that worked just fine - for some people the ultralight plastic can do that. Dunno what you got for lens material, but if that's what you got then that could be why.

are they made of the same materials as the old ones? i *cannot* tolerate the very high index plastics. i get headaches, even after wearing them for a few days to try and give my eyes a chance to adjust to them.

What RMD and Wolf said; the polycarbonate lenses have a different refraction index, and can cause problems. I don't like them at all.
