actually, no, but I certainly *have* been woken from a sound sleep by that distinctive odor before...
(that time was much closer, and resulted in a very extensive search of the basement before I concluded that the smell really *had* seeped through the closed windows at that intensity and was not the result of a throughly freaked out critter trapped in the house.)
I don't know what distresses them around your house; they're generally perfectly happy around our house. They just waddle around in this incredibly cute way that only practically inedible animals do.
the time I was woken from a sound sleep by an unhappy skunk in entirely too close proximity was when I was staying at your house. (Chip and I searched the basement for quite some time before concluding it must have been outside after all...)
then again the christians upstairs from us *are* pretty scary... and certainly distressed skunks seem to be a regular occurrence around here
