goslings! :-)

Yesterday I saw lots and lots of big Canadian geese and half grown goslings out in Malden. I was utterly charmed. :-)

(But then I would be, wouldn't I...)

Observation: Half grown goslings are fuzzy, but since they are in the process of growing adult feathers, the patterns are growing in at the same time. They look like gray fuzzy babies from one angle and minature adults with adult markings from another angle.

Observation two: Even the babies have definite attitude and walk like they own the place. :-)

we were heading to S&R's place in Meltrose and saw a whole flock of geese just milling around on the fellsway, stopping traffic. They'd taken a liking to the grass on the median. I like a place where traffic gets stopped by animals.

That's what they were doing when we saw them too. :-)

Except that they were ambling across the street in a rather purposeful way. (Can one amble with purpose?)

Sorry we missed you at S&R's. I'm beginning to suspect that a lot of people showed up to swim right after we left...

People trickled in and out. I don't think there were more than a couple people at a time after you left. Not "lots" by any means. But I think those that came felt they'd gotten to beat the heat a bit.

I don't know precisely because Lisa and I and the two younger kids went off to see Lilo and Stitch. Well done animation, and some clever and amusing bits. The character development mostly did not make a whole lot of sense, but my standards for intelligent plot were pretty low last night.

"Meltrose". Nice typo. Feels like it, today...

oh, goslings are definitely charming :) Ben and I saw fledging seagulls at Niagara Falls, and they are equally charming in a clumsy way. And there is the same odd effect from having baby and juvenile feathers at the same time (seagulls have brown mottled feathers for their first year of life; they don't turn white and gray until they are full-grown....)
