I yet again managed to whack my head really hard on that poorly designed overhanging shelf in the dining room.

When I hit a shelf like that, I might get a whack and a bruise, but the shelf usually is destroyed, never to vex me again.

I think our landlords might get cranky if the shelf was destroyed.

So it's probably a good thing I appear not to be quite as hardheaded as you. :-)
