the world is most tiny indeed

Chip and I called hammercock this morning to see if she wanted to go out to brunch. She had family visiting and hence had to decline, so we paged lyonesse to see if she wanted to go.

And off we went on our merry way, Chip, lyonesse, iberon, RD and I. As soon as we arrive, there was hammercock and her visitors. :-)

Brunch was awesome, too. It was really, really, really good to see folks (especially lyonesse, whom I love dearly and don't see nearly often enough.) And the food was most tasty. And exceedingly bountiful. (I hadn't been there for a really long time, and had forgotten just *how* much food one gets there for brunch.)

Then we had *lots* of tedious shopping to do (I *hate* malls and it took forever and ever) but we ended up with really nifty stuff for a wedding present for our upstairs neighbors BB and AW, and stuff for BB's birthday as well.

Then we went to a bunch of other stores and then stopped by my work to see what the week of tearing the walls and floors of my classroom apart and putting them together looks like.

Very orange. And beige. They didn't ask us about colors for anything, and managed to hit on the small set of colors that neither my co-teacher nor I like. (We thought they were going to repaint in the same colors as before, and they had said they weren't retiling at all.) But at least they aren't done (mostly a bug I suppose, but kind of a feature for this) so I am going to insist on having input into the color selection for the rug in the other room.

And then we found a huge thing of sushi really cheap at Trader Joe's so we got that for dinner. We shall see how it is. (Chip is going on the Midnight Ride tonight, so he is napping briefly now and I'm going to get him up at 10:30 and we will eat then.)

And we have fresh peaches. :-)

Now to wrap all the nifty presents I got...

Not bad for supermarket sushi. :-)

So, are you keeping this wonderful brunching spot a secret?

It was Johnny D's in Davis Square. (Which I normally won't set foot in because it is too smoky. But apparently if one goes early enough in the day it isn't a problem. Although it was by the time I left (just before we left though, as that burning sandpaper abraded sinuses feeling faded fairly quickly once we'd been outside a while) so if I go again it will be even earlier.)
