Those who said we shouldn't have gone to Arisia are right. The baby is fine so far; Chip, however, has a fever of 101.4 (and, of less concern perhaps, a nasty cough), and I am terrified that the baby will catch whatever he has.

A solely breastfed baby is not nearly as likely to get sick. Wash your hands lots, drink lots, nurse lots.

If Chip is not to be overly squicked by it, squeezing a little into a cup for him (or however he wants to ingest it ;) ) wouldn't hurt his immunities either. Did you know that burn victims are often tube-fed human milk, because it makes them less susceptible to post-burn infection?

I am not a boob nazi by any means (no kids breastfed past 12m), but breastmilk works great on little burns, cradle cap, some other stuff I don't even remember now...

I wish the child would nurse. *sigh* But he freaks out every time we try at all. (Lots of work with the lactation consultant at the hospital, but to no avail.)

I am pumping milk, and it is generally adequate to his needs (although not always) but none to spare for sure...

I'm hoping that I actually had a very low grade version of this a few days ago (slight cough and very slight fever) and that therefore the baby already has gotten my antibodies for this, but I think that is just wishful thinking...
