We were going to go to Walden Pond (leaving hours later than we thought we would, because we got busy at home) but when we got there the parking lot was full. So we went to Drumlin Farm.

It was fun walking around, even though we were both really tired, and I concluded that farm animals are actually rather grubby and cranky and uninteresting for the most part. Which I guess I knew. I liked walking on one of the trails behind the main farm stuff best though.

We discovered that the back of Chip's sister's house is really, really close to Drumlin Farm, about 200 meters or so up the trail from the horses' field. We knew it was around there, but we hadn't realized just HOW close it was.

We went to look where Chip's old day camp was, and discovered that there IS in fact a tunnel under the road; he had remembered this correctly.

And we bought some really lovely looking cilantro and basil at the farm stand there. Tasty salad for dinner today! :-)

Very tasty salad. Mushrooms and spinach and cilantro and basil and asparagus all sauteed and then added to lettuce and croutons. Yum. Yay Chip!

(I never ate like this pre-Chip. I'm not generally so ADD, but I am when it comes to cooking. I get bored and wander off and everything burns. Even my pasta is scary. When I have to cook for myself I eat bread and carrots and fruit... and cold cereal with milk on an ambitious day. Hard to burn that. Maybe a baked potato if I can handle the delayed gratification and set an alarm.)

SOs who can cook are wonderful, even for those of us into cooking. :)

Like Chip, I also have fond memories of Drumlin Farm from my childhood. I frequently went there with my parents. I remember the baby chicks, sheep and a bull on the farm. I remember they had a dimly lit room with red lights so you could observe nocturnal animals. I remember wandering around the woods and fields, admiring the tall trees and the spinning radar dish of the military base next door.
