It turns out that the pumping equipment is all too light to stay in place well enough to be effectively cleaned by the dishwasher, even when initially secured as tightly as I can manage by the clips attached to the dishwasher designed for securing light items. Some if it is small enough to fall through also.

(Washing pumping equipment was the primary reason for purchasing the dishwasher.)

Time to improvise something that attaches easily enough to use with one hand (with the baby on the other arm) and does not fall apart during the wash cycle... (My first thought was twist ties, but the paper will disintegrate.)

They sell little baskets with lids that you can fill with little pump bits and toss in the dishwasher. We got one at target, in the "bottle" section of the baby aisle. Very handy.

You beat me to it. I was going to say exactly the same thing.

Ditto. I was also going to say that you might want to put the bits in
the "silverware" section, and put a wide-mesh "lid" on the silverware
basket. So what if it bounces around, it's getting cleaned. As long as the bouncing around doesn't break it.
